The word “Communication” has many meanings but let’s talk about the power that stands behind it. Communicating, no matter what language or way you choose to communicate, encompasses the ability to affect peoples’ emotions. Everyone has been told by their mother to “think before you speak”. Why did she tell us this? Because after you say something you can’t take it back. As we get older, we get wiser and are not reminded of this regularly. This is where power comes in to play.
“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” Yehuda Berg. This “power” we have can make someone’s day better or worse, lift someone up or bring someone down. Our words and communication is so powerful if you really think about it..how will you use your power today?
